“第六届多伦多国际老人节” 诗歌散文比赛即将进入评选阶段

由加拿大普通话华人联合会举办的“第六届多伦多国际老人节”诗歌散文比赛征稿活动结束在即,将于8月1日进入评委评选阶段。

本次征稿活动得到旅加华裔老人的热烈相应。截至7月27日,共收到诗作100余首,其中以格律诗为主。由于不少作者投稿作品超过大赛所规定的5首,经过作者本人进一步筛选,最终有50余首正式参赛。作者年龄最长者达85岁,最年轻者为58岁,平均年龄71岁,其中2/3的作者超过70岁。

加拿大普通话华人联合会已邀请加国著名华人诗人和平岛、秋叶、白水、野航和万木(以上均为笔名)作为评委。北美华人文学社(CLSNA)对本次活动给予了全力支持,将在其著名网站《北美枫》上为本次活动之评选开辟专栏,所有参赛作品将被发布到该网站上,供评委通过评审软件进行评选。8月10日将产生最终评选结果,颁奖仪式将在于9月29日举行的“第六届多伦多国际老人节”上进行,部分获奖作品还将被排练成不同形式的诗朗诵节目,在“第六届多伦多国际老人节”演出。

加拿大普通话华人联合会理事会换届选举通知

各位会员:

加拿大普通话华人联合会兹定于2007年9月29日举行第七届年度会员大会,届时,将举行选举产生第六届加拿大普通话华人联合会理事会。

现任理事,并且未满三届者,有资格自动成为理事会选举候选人。同时,我们热忱欢迎各位会员参加理事竞选。凡自荐者,除需填写候选理事申请表外,另需要有两人以上提名(即填写候选理事提名表);凡推荐他人者,可直接填写提名表。以上两种表格,请在签名后于 2007年8月10前邮寄、传真或电邮给联合会办公室。

参选资格:
年满18岁以上
拥有一年以上加拿大普通话华人联合会会员资格
对社区工作有所贡献,或者在某专业领域有突出业绩
具有履行公职的行为能力和奉献于社区工作的意愿

竞选程序:
l2007年8月10日前提交候选理事申请表或候选理事提名表。
l现任理事会审核并确定候选人名单。
l所有候选人在全体会员大会上作简短演讲。
l全体与会会员投票,差额选举产生新一届理事会。选举结果当场公布。

普华会参加庆祝加拿大国庆大游行

7月1日是加拿大140周年国庆(Canada Day)。在副会长杨学武的带领下,普通话华人联合会组织了一支近50人的队伍,精神饱满地参加了由全加华联发起的“我爱加拿大,加拿大是我家”多伦多华人社区庆祝加拿大国庆大游行(Canada Day Parade)。

这天温度不高,是难得的好天气。游行队伍于中午12点从罗渣士中心西边的加拿大铁路华工纪念碑前出发,沿士巴丹拿北上经过中区华埠,后至多伦多大会堂结束。在历经2个多小时的过程中,游行队伍浩浩荡荡,锣鼓喧天,雄狮尽舞。太平鼓、腰鼓、新疆舞、民族舞令人眼花缭乱,劲歌劲舞也异常火爆,多元文化色彩鲜明,中华民族气魄非凡风采。路旁观众,则摇旗呐喊、助威,很多人手持摄像机、照相机,争相拍下这具有历史意义的画面。

穿着印有”普通话华人联合会夕阳红”字样的T恤,普华会的游行队伍显得更加整齐,”普通话华人联合会”的大条幅也格外引人注目,引来不少媒体前来采访、拍照。

NCCC Job Posting(本会招聘启事)

The New Canadian Community Centre (NCCC) is a not-for profit organization that provides a variety of immigrant services to the Chinese immigrants in the Greater Toronto area with a primary focus on the Mandarin-Speaking seniors. We are seeking an Office Director for a part-time position. This position is based on a 25 hour work week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:

General Tasks:
Greet individuals coming into the NCCC office and provide general information
Answer phone and email inquiries relevant to NCCC programs, events and member services
Assist in organizing meetings and develop meeting minutes
Conduct regular website maintenance
Ensure proper office routine is in place

Special Program and Evens:
Assist in program delivery where needed, particularly in planning and organizing special events
Recruit and work with volunteers when needed to meet program objectives

Bookkeeping:
Operate the accounting system, using QuickBooks to do bookkeeping work
Prepare the financial documents and reports

Fundraising:
Communicate with the government
Research, write and submit the grant applications
Conduct the project evaluation and donor reporting

Communications:
Communicate with communities
Promote program and events via media, website and other appropriate means
Maintain relationship with community partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong written and oral skills both in English and Chinese
Excellent interpersonal skills
Fully proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet
Experience with QuickBooks, able to understand financial information and accounting principles
Organized and be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, enjoy working independently
Fundraising and proposal writing skills are required.
Experience working in a small non-profit sector, shared resource considered an asset.

Work Week: Monday to Friday, 10:00am-3:00pm. Should be available for occasional weekend and evening work.
